Yosemite Life

We had our fill of Camp 4 life these past two weeks. The good part about Camp 4 is meeting instant climbing buddies from around the globe…the bad part is dodging rangers because you’ve stayed longer than your allotted seven days. We were very sly and sneaky with our Camp 4 living arrangements so we were only confronted once. Camp 4 will be memorable thanks to new friends Rob, Robin, Duncan, Kate, Simon and Hannah (England and Scotland), Ken and Tim (Australia), Yan and LP (Montreal), Robbie and Alyssa (Oregon), Julie (Georgia), and the Czech team.

We have been visiting many single pitch crags and testing our strengths on crack climbs of all sizes. The off-widths cracks (cracks that fit different parts of your body like your arm, knee, or entire body) are like nothing we’ve experienced. We have found those climbs and sections of climbing to be the most challenging and desperate. Inch by inch you literally “thrutch” yourself up the crack, out of breath and completely worked.
“Welcome to Yosemite”.
We have lots of multi pitch climbs left on our to-do list as our first and sometimes second attempts have seen line ups…even so early in the morning. With risks of getting stuck on the top of a climb at night, we always decide to bail and to try again another day. Our days here are running out but at least the weather is beautiful, the swimming is refreshing, and the climbing is never ending.

Stay tuned for more adventures in San Fransisco and Yosemite with parents, Jen and Tony.
